Richard has more than 25 years of experience as a mental health care professional, much of it in Washington, DC, at Community Connections. He is a graduate of Miami University in Oxford, Ohio, and received his Master’s and Doctoral degrees in clinical psychology from the University of North Carolina. Before joining Green Door as CEO in December of 2013, Richard was the Chief of Business Development and Strategic Planning at Community Connections. He is also the president of the D.C. Behavioral Health Association, and has published numerous articles and book chapters on a range of behavioral health issues. Richard is a resident and neighbor of Green Door in the District’s Petworth neighborhood.
Mimi Gardner has over 30 years of experience practicing social work in the healthcare, mental health, substance abuse and the child welfare industry in the states of Illinois, Indiana, New York, New Jersey and the DC metro area. She has a Masters of Arts from the University of Chicago, School of Social Service Administration. As Chief Clinical Officer, Mimi is responsible for clinical operations at Green Door Behavioral Health.
Andrew has been a Green Door Behavioral Health employee since 1993. Before becoming the Director of Human Resources he worked in a variety of roles as a Community Support Worker, Community Support Team Leader, and as the Training and Recruitment Coordinator. He is a graduate of The George Washington University and is a Certified Addiction Counselor in the District of Columbia. In 2007, he received the Heroes in the Fight Award from the National Alliance for Mental Illness (NAMI), the Washington Psychiatric Society and Eli Lilly for starting the Housing Today program, which helped 26 homeless individuals from the Community for Creative Non-Violence (CCNV) shelter move into their own apartments. Andrew also leads a monthly support group for the families of people with mental illness.
Niki has a deep commitment to community mental health and has worked in Washington DC for the past 5 years. With a background in Marriage and Family Therapy she has used an eclectic approach to support individuals in the various stages of their lives while providing therapy. Utilizing evidence based and best practices to promote innovation and excellence in client care services, Niki provides training and professional development opportunities for front-line staff. Previously she worked at Pathways to Housing DC in many roles including: Direct Service Provider, Clinical Manager & Director of Training and Quality Improvement.
